In May of 2007, we found an old Laundromat "DING-DONG cleaners" and thought, why not transform it into an african bush inspired winebar, a home for South African Wines in New York City.

The Name Xai Xai has no profound meaning, it is more of an indulgence for the owners. The name is a reference to a small beach town in Mozambique in which after a couple of glasses of wine the name was recognized as fitting the idea behind the wine bar. A little bit African, a little bit chic.
